MonasteryX

A residency where meditators, founders, scientists, and artists live and practice together — exploring contemplative life as a foundation for impactful work.

Quick facts

What MonasteryX is

MonasteryX is an experimental live-in residency that combines structured contemplative practice with deep, focused work. Residents commit to a daily rhythm of meditation, individual project time, and shared community life. The program convenes founders, scientists, writers, artists, and serious meditators who want to explore how contemplative practice can become a foundation — not a side activity — for ambitious work.

Past residents (sample)

Recent cohorts have included a Swedish memetics researcher and Open Research Institute founder; a designer-founder building at the edges of Web3, wellness, and experience design; a writer focused on the spiritual and ethical dimensions of climate change; a founder of Banfield Forge Consulting; an AI-native cybersecurity founder with a BS/MS in Physics from St Andrews; a Tibetan Buddhist meditation instructor with a Master's in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University; a breathwork teacher developing a program for athletes; an MTS in Buddhist Studies from Harvard Divinity School; an MDiv candidate at Harvard Divinity School exploring mysticism and epistemology; and a physics PhD from MIT who founded a 40+-researcher community in Complexity Science and Contemplative Studies.
